The final bell for summer will ring in a few short days. This has truly been the fastest year of my educational career. Much has happened to make this year the most exciting and the most challenging of my career. However, the students, parents and of course the best staff in the state of Texas has made the 2008-2009 school year the best yet.

As we close for the summer, please know that the central office and the San Saba High School office will remain open through out the summer. We do work longer hours, Monday through Thursday and take Fridays off during the months of June and July. Summer school will be in session from June 8 – June 26, thus a personnel will be on each campus for many days yet to come.

Our maintenance and transportation crew will be up to their necks in summer maintenance projects, as will teachers as they begin their study of our soon to be implemented curriculum – CSCOPE.

Teachers from San Saba and Cherokee will be in a three day training for this new curriculum on June 2, 3, and 4. This most exciting and dynamic curriculum should empower our students to what we hope is academic success for a lifetime. However, please keep in mind that this curriculum is new to all of us and patience and understanding will be needed as we go through the implementation process. Our teachers are working hard to understand all of the components of the curriculum as we move from a teacher led, skills based instructional arrangement, to a student driven, concept based approach to instruction. Please contact us to have a conversation about CSCOPE! We are anxious to provide information to parents, community members and our future educational volunteers!

Thanks to all of you who have supported our students in their various academic, athletic and fundraising events. We are blessed to live in a community that is supportive of our students, staff, and our schools!

In closing, to the San Saba Athletic Booster Club, thank you for honoring the student athletes in such a fine banquet last week – you are a small but dynamic group! As well to the Ministerial Alliance, the Baccalaureate service was truly inspirational for the staff and students of San Saba ISD.
