Well March came in like a lamb and if the old saying “Comes in like a lamb will go out like a Lion” holds true we are going to have a wild March. A good indication was shown to us Monday morning around 3:00 a.m.. The wind hit with a tremendous force, but it did bring some rain along with it. There were reports of a ½ inch and more in some places around the Bend. Some of the fruit trees are already blooming and the wild plums have been out now for a week.

Mebbie Eckhoff called in to report on the Stock Show in San Angelo.

Everything seemed to be in a wild state of confusion with all the fires around Sterling City and Robert Lee. Some of the people had to leave to help fight the grass fires. She reported it wasn’t the best of times for the show this year. Ethan Eckhoff got a Reserve Champion on his Columbian Ewe. He received a second ewe lambs, a first and third on the two tooth ewes. She showed the Rambouillet lambs. She placed third on two tooth ewes, and third on a pair of ewe lambs. She also reported that ½ inch of rain fell on their place East of Bend.

Still have sick ones in the hospital. Glenda Scroggins is still in Scott and White, Foy Gibson has been in Seton hospitals all week. Happy to report that the McCoury family is worlds better and was able to attend church Sunday for the first time in two weeks.

Sorry to hear about the death of Vernon Lindsey’s mother, who passed away over the weekend. She will be greatly missed by all her family and many friends.

Willie (Bill) Blair of Lampasas passed away last week and was buried Sunday in the Sand Cemetery. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Jack and LaNell Daniels have been down on the river fishing and have caught lots of white bass. Gene Daniels of Adamsville was also down fishing with them for a time and caught his limit and went home.

Boyd and Melissa, Eli and Silas Clark of Lubbock was in over the weekend visiting family. While here, they along with Jamie, Andrew, A.J. Houdyshell, Kristi and her children hunted fossils. No, not talking about William Clark, just rock fossils. Then Saturday night everyone enjoyed a wiener roast at Grandpa William and Grandma Jane Clark’s home.

Jane reported that Tim and CheeChee Brockman got their new double wide moved in Saturday.

Some of the Brister family met down on the old home place. Emerson and Gladys Brister of Thrall had lunch with Jackie and Charlene Sunday after church before returning home..

Happy birthday goes out to Jimmy Grant whose birthday is March 7, to Tyler Ford who will celebrate a birthday March 8, to Mikey Santos who will celebrate a birthday March 9, to John Bourke who will celebrate a birthday March 10 to Mary Jane Dennis and Michael Brister who will celebrate a birthday March 11.
