The Richland Springs Report
Thursday, May 21, 2009 • Posted May 21, 2009

This is the second time I have written this report tonight. I just finished the last one and the power went out. My document is out there somewhere but my computer doesn’t want to cough it up! I’m not sure why the lights went out, but here I am starting over!

Our scenery is absolutely breathtaking after all this rain. Everywhere you look is lush and green. I know that will disappear, but I’m going to enjoy it as long as I can.

Mrs. Gossett took the AR kids to Brownwood on Friday. Our kids worked very hard this year and really deserved this trip. Mrs. Gossett rewards our top readers every year. She has the entire event planned out like an army general. We had a wonderful day of roller skating, team games and water gun fights! Callie Teel came to take pictures and was rewarded by being the target of 30 water guns. She took her wetting like a trooper. She gets the best sport award of the day!

Speaking of Mrs. Gossett, she is still collecting box tops for the library. If you can’t get them to her before school gets out, you can mail them to the school or bring them to Mrs. Mask. Valerie wanted me to let everyone one of you know how much the library has benefitted from your box tops this year. Don’t forget to save them over the summer!

TAKS results will be out this week. They will be one of the criteria used to determine who will be invited to come to summer school. Mrs. Burkhart and Mrs. Harris will be conducting the school this year. School will begin the second week of June and finish in late July. If you don’t get a letter, and feel you would like your child to attend, please call your student’s teacher or the school. Our 5th Grade has done well in all tests so far. We can’t wait to see how the rest of our students fared.

My computer is doing bad things again so I am going to cut the column short before I lose the material again.

Please pray for our country, our President and our wonderful troops. I was unhappy to hear we are not out on Memorial Day but that won’t stop us from honoring our brave soldiers. I’m sure the cemetery committee will have the graves beautifully decorated in honor of our fallen heroes.

Don’t let the bad news get you down. God is still in control and our help and strength comes from Him, not the bankers. Have a blessed week.
