Richland Springs ISD is proud to announce Mr. Andrew Fowler as Valedictorian and Mr. Nigel Bates as Salutatorian. Richland Springs will graduate 10 seniors (one in abstentia) on Friday, May 29th at 7:30 p.m. The seniors are sponsoring a Project Graduation fish fry this Friday, May22nd at 6:00 p.m. at the Richland Springs Fire Hall. Come out and support this great group of seniors who have provided good leadership for our school.

Eighth grade also has a ceremonial graduation. Richland Springs ISD is proud to announce that eighth grade Valedictorian is Thomas Fowler and Salutatorian is Cheyene Tharp.

Last week 7 honor students were recognized from Richland Springs at the annual Rotary Honor Banquet. Congratulations to Nigel Bates who received a $1000 scholarship from the Rotarians. Thanks to all the Rotary Club members who recognize students each year for their outstanding achievements. The meal and speakers were outstanding.

Two community volunteers, Ann Alston and Melanie Smith were recognized at the Alumni Banquet for mentoring students at Richland Springs ISD for the 2008-2009 school year. Melanie Smith works tirelessly with UIL academic participants in all grade levels, and achieved success as three high school students made it to state competition at Austin this year.

Lindsey Roberds and Brenda Roberds were recognized by the Masonic Lodge as recipients of the Mirabeau B. Lamar award. The students and faculty and parents enjoyed a great steak dinner and great comraderie.

Baccalaureate practice and a luncheon were held at the First Christian Church on Wednesday. Baccalaureate will be held at First Christian Church on May 24th at 6:00 p.m.

High school UIL awards along with a band concert will be held in the cafetorium beginning at 7:00 p.m. on May 21st. Parents are invited to attend.

If you see a teacher in public, tell them how much you appreciate their efforts.

We have a great community, students, teachers and staff.

Community involvement is the key to our success!
