Tayler Hibler, a junior, playing in her second state tournament in a row, wins second place. Last year as a sophomore Tayler took third place. This year as a Junior Tayler capped off a great year by winning second place at the state tournament. Tayler finished the year by winning 37 matches and losing 5.

In the state quarterfinals Tayler defeated Katherine Cruz from Geronimo Navarro 6-0, 6-0.

Tayler in the semifinals defeated a top ranked player Emily Lobnitz from Sunnyvale 7-6, 6-0. Tayler started off slow against Emily falling behind 3 to 0, but Tayler never giving up got her game going and came back to tie the match at 3 to 3. The match went back and forth with the score being tied at 6-6. Tayler took over and won the tie-breaker 7-0. Tayler never let up and took the second set 6-0.

In the finals Tayler took on Kayla Casey from Franklin. Tayler played very well but Casey playing the best she had in the tournament and making very few unforced errors defeated Tayler 6-2, 6-1. Tayler had an outstanding year and we are very proud of her. At the start of the year there were approximately 450 girls singles players in class AA and to finish in second place is an outstanding accomplishment.
