In a recent essay contest, for students ages 14 to 18, sponsored by the San Saba Soil and Water Conservation District #250 and LCRA, 15 participants submitted essays entitled "What Soil and Water Conservation Means to Me". First place was awarded to Kayla Ellis; second place, Natasha Hernandez; and third place, Tyler McIntosh, all of SSISD. The students were recognized on May 4, at the regular high school Monday morning assembly at the Dillo Arena. A trophy and cash award was presented to each of the winners.
