Thursday, May 14, 2009 • Posted May 14, 2009

The San Saba Pony League Team traveled to Mason on Friday May 8th to take on Rock Springs. The Dillos defense started out strong, not allowing any runs in the first 2 innings, and the Dillos offense also started out quick with Sean Argote scoring in the 1st and Ryan Guidroz and Kelan Verette both scoring in the 2nd. So after 2 innings the Dillos lead 3-0. In the 3rd the Dillos struggled a bit on defense giving up 5 runs. The Dillos were able to score only 1 run in the bottom of the 3rd. After 3 innings the Dillos trailed 5-4. With the threat of bad weather looming in the distance the Dillos got 3 quick outs, only allowing 1 Rock Springs runner to reach base. In the bottom of the 4th Sean Argote and Micheal McKinnerney scored ending the game with a 6-5 victory. Dustin Sloan, Kelan Verette, and Kolton Ellis made some outstanding defensive plays. All of the Dillos did a great job of running the bases and hitting the ball. Ryan Guidroz had a rough game pitching, giving up 5 runs, walking 5 batters and striking out only 3 in 2 and 1/3 innings, but in the end it was Ryan's bat that drove in the winning run. J. T. Mathis came on in relief and pitched 1 and 2/3 innings giving up no runs walking 3 batters and striking out 4. Thank you to all the boys for playing hard and fighting back to capture the victory. GO DILLOS!!!
