Bad Bob’s Bait store reported that the fishing has been steady, with good catches of both yellow and channel cat being caught and still catching some white bass. They are using gold fish, perch, minnows and stink bait. A twenty-four lb. yellow cat was brought in by someone from San Saba.

Mike Allen, the grandson of John Byrd, caught a fifteen pound gold fish while fishing at the Brister fishing camp. It must have escaped from someone’s trot-line or maybe someone just let it go in the river. Bob has a picture of it at his store. He also reported he has a bulletin board at the store where anyone can post an upcoming event there or whatever they might have for sale.

Lola Morris celebrated her birthday Friday by going with her son Phillip to Marble Falls. They ate at the famous Blue Bonnet café and did some shopping before coming back to Lampasas, stopping at the Dairy Queen for refreshments and from there they went to granddaughter Jamie Garrett’s home for a cake cutting and supper. It was a wonderful day. She reported that she had a restful day Sunday without so much activity.

Phil B and Winnie Lou McCoury spent the weekend in Bryan with their family members. Mother’s Day was spent at the new home of granddaughter LaShonda and her husband Steven Keen and great grandkids Cole and Kyle and other members of their family. Steven’s mother Cindy was home from Iraq and was also there.

Jeffery, Tanya and Ashley Chalfant of Cedar Park along with Kerry Marley spent the weekend with their mother Tommie Cobern to celebrate Mother’s Day.

The Bend Community Meeting for May 16, will not be held because of another event which will be taking place. The meeting has been rescheduled for June 20 to take the place of the canceled May meeting.

Happy birthday goes out to Bill Price who will celebrate his birthday Saturday, May 16, to Lesa Preece, Peggy Henniger and Terry Marley whose birthday is May 17, to Wilma Jo Byrd who will celebrate a birthday May 18, to Dr. Marilyn Brister, Donna Struen and Rodney Steallings who will be celebrating a birthday May 20.
