Elm Grove Echoes

We had 1 inch of rain out at Elm Grove along with the storm that blew through last Friday night.

We were in Brady for Jaxon Tucker’s ball game. We started home and kept hearing reports of the severe storm ahead of us so we turned back to Brady and waited out at the Tuckers’ house for over an hour. On the way home, we saw a lot of big trees down between Rochelle and Richland Springs. The rain was coming down so hard, you could hardly see where you were going.

Yvonne Cottrell and Ann Harlow got caught in the storm in Early. They found shelter and waited it out. It was a very bad storm, not one to be out on the road in!

Ken and Lanell Parsons’ garden in Bangs was shredded by hail. It was only marble sized but lasted for over an hour.

I had a really good Mother’s Day beginning on Saturday. Marilyn and Bethany Suber and I joined Amy and Georgia Tucker in Brady and we all rode to San Angelo where we met Martha Tucker and Nonie Elizondo at the home of Stacie Elizondo. After getting some nice gifts and a good lunch at Red Lobster, some of us went for pedicures and some went shopping at the mall.

On Sunday, Marilyn and I were invited to join Amy at a Mother’s Day brunch at First Baptist Church in Brady. It was very nice and afterwards, the rest of the family joined us there for church.

Arriving home, I found a pretty plant and gift from Billy and Sherry Cummings on the front porch. Sorry we missed them. Later Sunday, Lanell and Hannah Parson came for a visit and brought more goodies. Charlie and Kitty Cummings came by on Saturday night and Gerald called Sunday, so I heard from or saw all five of my kids.

I hope all of the Mothers had good celebrations with their families.

Remember the Homecoming Picnic this Saturday at Elm Grove. There is always a lot of good food and visiting. As we have said, it is a good time to meet all your neighbors if you are new to the area.

We hope to see Weldon Faught there with his big horses and wagon. Riding in the wagon is a highlight of the day. We hope to have the musicians who usually perform but some of them are having health problems and may not be able to come. We hope everyone will make plans to join us for the day. It may be raining, but the barbecue pits are under cover and we can all eat in the old school house. We’ve done it before!
