I remember seeing a movie about two men in love with the same girl. One was the big athletic type while the other was a little skinny guy. They were going to have a fistfight to see who got the girl.

The big fellow had his friends around him in his corner and they were already talking victory. The only one in the puny contestant’s corner was the girl. He was scared but he was going to give it his best shot.

As they were putting on the boxing gloves the girl told the puny contestant to give her his hand; he did and she secretly put a roll of quarters in his right hand and then helped him put on his glove. The bell rang and the two opponents started fighting. It was not long before the little contestant hit the big guy on the chin with a hard right and to everyone’s surprise the big guy went down and was out for the count and the fight was over.

It reminds me of some of the battles and difficulties we face in life and sometimes victory may seem impossible. However, if God is on our side we cannot lose. The Bible gives us hope. It says God will deliver us, (Deuteronomy 23:14, Psalms 5:11, 32:7, 59:1, 69:29, 91:14). And my favorite, (Romans 8:31). Let us draw near to God and put our faith in him.
