The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met April 30, 2009 for play day with the following members present: Jo Anne Hardy, Sandee Hartley, Jo Ann Snow, Hattie Rogers, and Anita Miles. The Chair for April, Jo Anne Snow, called for a game of Binga, Banga, Bongo which is a points game. You receive one point for first on the green, one point for closest to the pin, and one point for first in the hole. Sandee Hartley was first and Anita Miles second and they both scored a birdie for the day. Sandee also chipped in to win the chip in pot.
We had surprise guests when Travis and Bette Odom showed up at the course. They moved to Hamilton a few years ago but Betty has maintained her membership with the San Saba Ladies Golf Association and attends tournaments and play days when possible. Bette rode with the ladies the back nine and visited and we all enjoyed her as it has been a while since she was here. Bobbie Churchill and Pat Ribb also joined the ladies the back nine and even did a little chipping and putting. They both have had health issues and are eager to get back to the links!
It was with regrets that the Pecan Classic Four Lady Tournament scheduled for May 2, 2009 was cancelled due to a lack of entries. This is very unusual as it is normally a huge tournament. And once again the City National Bank had made plans to sponsor this tournament as they have done the past several years. A very special thanks go out to the City National Bank! We appreciate how they have always stepped up and supported the San Saba Ladies Golf Association!
The monthly business meeting will be May 7, 2009 followed by play day. We welcome lady golfers who would like to become members or just to visit and have fun in the sun “swinging!”
