She was a Special Gift

When God created the world and then made the first man Adam, (Genesis 2:7) He realized that Adam was not complete or that he lacked something, so God created a helper or a helpmate, it could be translated a counterpart. It was the first woman, (Genesis 2:18-25) they are fully equal before God but each with unique and different roles. One of those special roles that women have before God is the blessing of bearing children. God also gave them the special ability to nurture. Since the beginning of creation everyone has had a mother except one and that is Adam. God tells us in His Holy Word, the Bible, to treat women and especially our mothers with respect and honor, (Exodus 20:12, Matthew 19:19, Ephesians 5:25, 1 Peter 3:7). This coming Sunday let us remember it is when we celebrate Mother’s Day. Give them a call, or take them out to eat, visit them, send flowers or a card and you might be surprised what a little hug or a simple thanks might mean to them. It seems like we live in such a self-centered culture, may we not lose sight of respecting others and especially our mothers. Not just this Sunday but let us love, honor and respect them everyday of the year and hold them in high regard, (1 Timothy 5:2). See you in Church next Sunday.
