The San Saba Pony team traveled to Mason on Tuesday April 21st to take on the Mason Punchers. The Dillos started off the game slow, going 3 up 3 down in the top of the first inning. The defense of the Dillos did not start off much better with the first 4 Punchers reaching base and eventually scoring. But then the defense settled down and got 3 straight outs.

In the top of the 2nd inning M. McKinnerney scored putting the Dillos on the board. In the bottom of the 2nd the Punchers scored 1 run to make the score 5-1 after 2 innings. In the top of the 3rd the Dillos started their rally, with J.T. Mathis, K. Verette, R. Guidroz, and D. Lara scoring 4 runs to even the score at 5-5.

The Dillos put Mason out in order 3 up 3 down in the bottom of the 3rd . Four more runs were scored by G.Young, K.Verette, R. Guidroz, and M. McKinnerney in the top of the 4th to give the Dillos a 9-5 lead. Once again the Dillos defense got the first 3 Punchers out in the bottom of the 4th inning to seal the victory for the Dillos.

Three players pitched for the Dillos and did a good job of not losing their cool and maintaining their composure. J.T. Mathis pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave up 5 runs. G. Young pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up 0 runs. S. Argote pitched 1 inning and gave up 0 runs. The Dillos really showed they had heart by not giving up and fighting back to capture the lead and hold it for the victory. The Pony team will be playing in Llano at a tournament on Saturday and Sunday April 25th and 26th. GO DILLOS!!!
