Evidences of God

When I walked to the building the other morning, I found it rather difficult. Here lately we have all been made aware of the “wind blown look” as most of us have been outside in the wind. At least we all look the same when we arrive and one is not left untouched by the wind.

As I thought about the wind I thought about the Israelites such a long time ago. They had been oppressed and driven to slavery by the Egyptians after the death of Joseph. The new leadership did not know him and the people were given no special favors as when Pharaoh allowed Jacob and company to settle in Goshen.

Now God has looked on them with kindness and is going to bring from the land. They leave and get as far as the Red Sea. Pharaoh changes his mind (again) and goes after them. The people are afraid. The army is fast approaching behind them and the Red Sea is has them trapped on the other side. What does God do? He causes a “strong east wind” to blow all night long and parts the waters (Exodus 14:21,22). Thus, the Israelites can walk across on dry ground.

Cecil B. DeMill made the movie The Ten Commandments. In his movie the waters parted immediately. What a great dramatic effect! But the Bible states the east wind blew all night and parted the waters and dried the ground. We have an awesome God! We have a powerful God! He controls everything and can make the waters stop flowing.

As the wind blows we can be reminded of the greatness of our God and what He did for people He loved. You see, He still loves us and desires the best for us. He is always there and is willing to help us as we have any need. We must trust in His promises and give ourselves totally to Him in service. As we do, He will bless us, too. God is present with us always. Are you trusting Him?
