The San Saba Armadillos varsity baseball team took a big step toward the playoffs this past Tuesday with a 9-8 win over the Early Longhorns.

The Dillo seniors lead the way, with Martin Vega hitting a 2 run double to tie the game 3-3 in the 3rd.Blake Lewis pitched 5 outstanding innings and hit a 3 run home run in the 6th,to give the Dillos our first lead.George Long hit well and pitched well to get the win for the Dillos.Trey Tinney had two 2-out at bats resulting in game tying and game winning RBI’S.

I was proud of all the players but the seniors led the way,and that is what we will need to get in the playoffs.This week will really be important in the playoff race. This week the Dillos play at Comanche on Tuesday, Varsity at 4:00 p.m. with JV to follow. Friday the Dillos host Coleman JV at 4:30 p.m. and Varsity at 7:00 p.m.

The JV also beat Early for the second time this year by the score of 7-2. See you at the park.
