The Junior/Senior Prom was held Saturday, April 18th. Scott Isbell is the junior class sponsor and organized one of the best decorated proms in recent history, with the help of the junior class girls and parents. The Prom King is Mr. Nigel Bates and the Prom Queen is Miss Lindsey Roberds. The theme of this year’s prom was ‘A Night in Paris.’ The girls were transformed from schoolgirls to debutants when they arrived in their new dresses. The boys were transformed into gentlemen in their suits and tuxedoes. Senior wills and prophesies were read and were enjoyed by all. Richland Springs has an outstanding group of students. Wow! - A stretch limo was even seen delivering students to the prom.

Students in grades 3 through 5 will travel to the San Angelo Symphony & the San Angelo Planetarium on Friday, April 24. This will be the first time that many of the students have ever heard a live symphony performance. They will have sack lunches on the trip and should return to school in time to catch the school bus home.

Richland Springs placed second in the district UIL academic meet, only four points behind Zephyr. Ten students will travel to the High School UIL Academic Regional Meet at ACU on Friday, April 24 & Sat., April 25. Representing Richland Springs will be Sara Hedley, Emily Smith, Stephen Soto, Stephen Fowler, Andrew Fowler, Lindsey Roberds, Kelyn Green, Brennen McGinty, Nigel Bates and Abraham Ahumada. Staff traveling with the students will be UIL coordinator Nelson Smith, Patsy Hall, and Brenda Roberds. Bring home the gold and on to STATE-Go Coyotes!

We couldn’t have ordered more perfect weather for our 4-H trail ride this past Sunday. Weldon Faught, Dale McKinnerney, and Bucky Lusty brought their wagons for our horseless riders. There were 20 mounted riders and several of which took on a second younger rider for most of the trip. Everyone enjoyed about two and a half hours of leisurely riding. Then we finished off the day with a dummy roping and a hot dog supper. There were thirty-eight participants in the trail ride. Casey and Sally Gossett stayed behind and graciously did the cooking. A great time was had by everyone! The Richland Springs 4-H is active and is sponsored by Valerie Gossett.

There will be another Town Hall Meeting at 7:00 p.m. on April 23rd in the Richland Springs cafetorium to discuss the upcoming Richland Springs Cafetorium bond election that will be held on May 9, 2009.

Good attendance is so important to student success. The next round of TAKS testing begins April 27. Please urge your child to be at school each and every day, especially during the week of TAKS testing. There are only five weeks of school remaining.

If you see a teacher in public, tell them how much you appreciate their efforts.

We have a great community, students, teachers and staff.

Community involvement is the key to our success!
