The hostesses for the meeting were Clione Rochat, Connie Adams, Millie Burnham, Martha Roe Terry, and Anita Miles, who was unable to attend but acted as a hostess.

When the ladies arrived they were served a delightful and tasty Cornmeal Shortcake Scone topped with a Strawberry/Fruit (Kimi, Pineapple, Lime, Mint) Toss complimented with whipped cream and coffee.

The program was presented by our own Harlene Sadler of Eagle Pass, Texas. She came in full régalai as Miss Julia and presented a book review of that series of books. Harlene is a mixture of charm and wit and spontanéité and was perfect in her role. The members were thourougly entertained and it was a joy to have Harlene back visiting in San Saba.

After the program, the President, Patricia Warren, called the meeting to order and Zolly Jones led the members in the Club Collect.

The Secretary, Dorothy Miller, gave the roll call and read the minutes of the March and April meetings. It was noted that Sandy Smith substituted for Paula Barrier as hostess for the March meeting.

The Treasurer, Louise Williams, gave the financial report and announced that there have been 803 cookbooks sold to date.

The Yearbook Committe Chair, Kathleen Hawkins, announced the the May End of Year Party will be at the Gazebo at the San Saba Mill Pond Park and Barbara Gilger passed out adorable invitations stating the date will be May 14, 2009 and the time as 6:30 PM and the menu will be a shrimp boil, with a chicken substitution as necessary. Members are asked to please RSVP.

The Project Committe report was given by Loy Nell Behrens. The committee has selected the recipient of the $1,000.00 scholarship and it will be announced at the San Saba High School graduation.

The Membership Chair, Susie Nettleship, read a letter of resignation from Liz Haug, effective at the end of the year, and a motion was made and it was accepted with regrets. Susie submitted the names of Martine Miller, Sharon Clawson, and Donna Baker for membership and they were approved unanimously. Martine will become a member at the end of this year and Sharon and Donna will be placed on the waiting list.

Joycelyn McRorey asked members to volunteer to provide food for the EMS classes and will take your name if you would like to participate in this worthy cause.

Members please don’t forget to RSVP for the End of Year Party! I don’t think you will want to miss this delightful event!
