Everyone was talking about the bountiful rain that fell Friday. Reports of up to two inches were reported around the Bend. Jolene Lively reported that at her place the hail was plentiful and big. Closer to Bend reports of pea size hail and not much of that. No damage to plants was reported. It just takes a two-inch rain to make people smile and have happy thoughts about life once again.

Bad Bob’s Bait store hasn’t reported anything this week about the fishing, but there has been an awful lot of campers and motor homes going and coming from the park and fishing camps.

Sunday the motorcycles were in abundance on FM 580 going to Lampasas through the Bend. Counted over 50 in one bunch, with smaller groups also in and around the Bend.

There are more and more flowers blooming now since the rain. Bluebonnets are popping out all along the way, as are paint brush, and in the sandy areas the Phlox are really pretty. The flowers are turning out better than expected this Spring.

At last report R.J. Henniger was mending and going about doing his usual business of hauling hay, tending to his stock and planting feed. It must take something bigger and worse than surgery to his arm to slow him down. The surgery didn’t affect his wit as it is still running in high gear.

Lola Morris reported the arrival of a great grandson Friday night. Ethan Wyatt Nixon who weighed in at 7 pounds and 5 ounces. The proud parents and brother are Robert, Deidra and Sean Nixon of The Woodlands. The grand parents are Phillip and Bobbie Morris of Bend.

Jolene Lively reported that she and granddaughter and great granddaughter Amy and Megan Stewart of Copperas Cove attended the Broyles reunion in Cherokee Saturday along with Charlene and Jerry Reavis, their daughter Cindy Day of Brownwood. Saturday night Jolene, Amy and Megan attended the Bend Community meeting.

The Bend Community meeting went off as scheduled with hostesses Winnie Lou McCoury, Clovia Ketchum and Clovis Gibson making sure everyone had everything they needed.

Jane Tinney met her son Donnie Freeland and family at Hico Saturday afternoon to pick up the grand children Brady, Nicholas and Erica Freeland so that they could spend the weekend with her and Tommie. There was no mention if they sampled the world famous coconut cream pie that is sold at The Kuffoee Kup Restaurant while there. Most people will make a point of eating there if they are going to be there at meal time or anytime for that matter.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Thaddous Scroggins who will celebrate a birthday April 25, to Walter Brister whose birthday is April 26, and to Dan Harrington who will celebrate a birthday April 29 .
