The best news of the week is the good rain we had early Sunday morning about 3 o’clock. My rain spotter at Elm Grove says we had 1 inch out there. That is good news! Maybe we caught a little bit of tank water.

The rain came and went, then the sun came out and we had perfect weather for Easter Sunday.

Joining Marilyn, Michael and me were, Amy and Rex Tucker; Jax, Georgia and Jesse from Brady; Lanell and Ken Parson; Theron, Kelton and Hannah from Bangs; Aldris Parson from Brownwood; Roger and Martha Tucker and Santos and Stacie Elizondo from San Angelo; and Bethany Suber from Stephenville. There were nineteen in all enjoying a good barbecue lunch with all the trimmings and getting in on the egg hunt. We also had a birthday party for Hannah Parson, while we were at it, since she turned 5 years old on Saturday.

Helen Deeds called in the report on their Easter get-together.

It was a bittersweet time for them since the recent passing of Bobby Deeds. He had not missed the Easter fun in over 80 years.

Some of the group attended church in Mercury then joined all the others for lunch and Helen said everyone participated in the egg hunt. Those attending were, Bobby Edward Deeds; Georgia Deeds; Billy and Lori Deeds; Lilly and Gunner; Bobby Edward Deeds; Jr. and Ashley Deeds and Ethan; Brenda and Danny May; Lance and Tonya Rabenaldt; Rhett and Kate,Cody and Jennifer Rabenaldt; Creet, Hutch, Signe, Shadie and Cash; Joel and Susie Johnson; Benny and Becky Deeds; Lacey, Kelly, Brandon, Destinee, Scooter, Chance and Briana. Opal Deeds; Brent Deeds; Johna and Frankie Evans and Linda and Jerry Jolly. Helen said everyone had a good time and I know they did.

Remember the community meeting this Saturday night. The final plans for the homecoming picnic will be made. Hostesses will be Valerie Gossett and Jolynn Tharp.

It was too cold for me to get out Saturday evening, but Marilyn and Michael attended the benefit roping, barbecue and auction held for Sputnik Bush at the rodeo arena. They reported a good crowd and I understand that it was a successful day. We send our best wishes to Sputnik and his family during this trying time.
