Bill Christian, 82, of Canton passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2008, in Terrell, Texas. He was born February 10, 1926 in Richland Springs, Texas, to Thomas Calvin and Bertha Pearl Warren Christian.

Bill grew up in Richland Springs. He met and married Helen Mazey Groves in 1950 in Crane, Texas, where they resided until 1961. They then moved to George West, Texas, and then to the Dallas area. Bill and his wife lived in the Dallas area until his retirement after 33 years with ARCO. They then moved to Canton, Texas. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton, where he served as a deacon.

Bill is survived by a daughter, Nicole Christian of Dallas; a son, Tommy Groves and his companion, Debbie Meredith, of Robinson, Texas; three grandchildren: Regina, Jacob, and Taylor Groves; one great-grandson; a brother, Robert Christian of Livingston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his parents, 12 brothers and sisters, and a granddaughter, Tomi Danyell.

Funeral services were held February 23, 2008 in the Chapel at the Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, with Dr. Gary Hearon officiating. Interment followed at the Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.

Pallbearers included: Bill Wash, Jimmy Christian, Larry Christian, Terry Christian, Calvin Taylor, and Doyle Christian. Honorary Pallbearers were The Fisher of Men Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Canton.
