Rain started to fall early Sunday morning leaving about one half inch of rain. It had all but stopped raining by 8:30 a.m. It sure put a damper on some early Easter egg hunts in the morning, but that afternoon the sun came out bright and of course there was wind. What would we do without the wind? Monday morning it started to blow before sunup. It has to dry up the rain that fell, don’t you know.
The freeze that came last week finished off the fruit and most of the pecans. The mesquites were also fooled this year, as there was some that really got hit. It was really strange, some would get hit and right next to it one that didn’t. Some places looked as if they had been sprayed, as whole fields of mesquites were yellow. Some stuff in gardens was saved and some will have to be replanted. Looks as if we will all be in for a lack of local fruit and pecans. Just hope the rain will be coming to help with the gardens, watering helps, but the rain is best.
