Blood Drive to be held April 16th
Thursday, April 9, 2009 • Posted April 9, 2009

Remember NEXT WEEK, Thursday April 16th, is the blood drive, from 1-6 p.m. in the San Saba Middle School gym.

Remember, approximately 60% of the population is eligible to donate blood, but only 5% actually does.

Remember, nearly 400 units of blood must be available each week to meet the needs of Central Texas patients.

Remember, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood.

Remember, blood can’t be made artificially; it can only be given by healthy people like you.

Remember, each blood donation can touch the lives of up to two patients.

Remember, the need for blood is constant. Red cells are usable for only 42 days.

Remember, the average adult body has between 10-12 pints of blood. After one pint is donated, the body replaces the red blood cells within 56 days.

Remember, a picture ID is required, you must be at least 17 years old, and weigh at least 112 pounds.
