GOD’S POWER AND YOUR PRAYERS
Thursday, April 9, 2009 • Posted April 9, 2009

One of the wonderful teachings of the Bible is the truth that God is in absolute control of all things. Do you rebel at this? Why? “Well, I can’t believe in a God who brings about famine in Somalia, hurricanes in Florida, floods in Middle America, and earthquakes in California.”

But “Who are you, O man, who answers back to God? . . . Does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?”(Romans 9:20-21). If this were not so, God would not be God. But He declares, “I am the Lord, and there is no other, the One forming light and creating darkness, causing well being and creating calamity; I am the Lord who does all these” (Isaiah 45:6-7).

This does not mean God is an ogre who sadistically spews His wrath on people. It does mean God is intimately involved in everything which takes place in your life and mine. You should be thankful for this. God is always close at hand. He is always accessible. He is always available to call on. Yes, you are in God’s hands. There is no better place to be.

It would be awful if God was not in control of everything. It would be awful if God could not answer your prayers.
