Competition is a fact of life. Students face competition in both UIL athletics and UIL academics. This week we focus on academic competitions. Richland Springs’ one act play, “All My Sons,” placed third at district zone competition. Only two plays advance. However, several Richland Springs’ thespians did receive honors: Kelyn Green – Best Actress; Emily Smith –All Star Cast; Mitchell Jacobson and Callie Teel – Hon. Mention All Star Cast.

The UIL Academic Spring Meet was held at Santa Anna this year. The meet composite team points are as follows: Zephyr HS-244; Richland Springs HS-240; Veribest HS-202; Brookesmith HS-162; Santa Anna HS-148; Panther Creek HS-134; Cherokee HS-86; Eden HS-68; Paint Rock HS-40; Rochelle HS-32, and Lohn HS- 8 points. Richland Springs was well represented and finished just 4 points short of winning the academic meet. Individual and team results are as follows:

Richland Springs will send 10 students to the High School UIL Academic Regional Meet at ACU on Friday, April 24 & Saturday, April 25. Good luck to all and bring home the gold, and thus make it to the state meet in Austin.

The high school district track meet was at May High School on Wednesday. Several tracksters qualified for the regional meet.

School will release at 3:36 p.m. on Thursday, April 9 for the Easter holiday.

The Richland Springs school board is hosting a town hall meeting to inform, discuss, and answer questions about the upcoming May 9 bond election. The meeting will be held at the Richland Springs cafetorium on Thursday, April 9, at 7:00 p.m.

It’s great to see our community supporting students in their efforts to achieve. We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It takes everyone working together to achieve success.

Community involvement is the key.
