The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met April 2, 2009 for the monthly business meeting with the President, Anita Miles, calling the meeting to order and calling on the Club Chaplain, Nell McHorse, to open with special prayer for Bobbie Churchill and Pat Ribb, as they are having health issues. Members present were: Jo Anne Hardy, Jo Ann Snow, Hattie Rogers, Nell McHorse, Becky Hardin, Sandee Hartley, Dorothy Sterner, and Anita Miles.

The Secretary, Hattie Rogers, read the minutes of the March meeting and the call meeting and they were approved as read.

Sandee Hartley, in the absence of the Treasurer, Bobbie Churchill, gave the financial report.

Sandee, the Four Ball Chair, also reported on the April Traveling Four Ball which will be in Georgetown, Texas on April 21, 2009.

The Pecan Classic Spring Tournament will be May 2, 2009 and the committees gave their reports. You may now sign up your team for the tournament by contacting Anita Miles.

We are so proud of our young San Saba High School lady golfers! They have began their quest for district by winning the first tournament held at the San Saba River Golf Course. Shelby Hardy led the team with a blazing score of 67! Or perhaps it should be called a windy windy score. The March winds prevailed the entire round but it obviously didn’t deter Shelby’s focus and concentration. Shelby has already been signed to go to Sam Houston on a golf scholarship and we foresee a golf future for this young talented athlete. Other girls scoring well were Johna Reavis, Taylor Smith, Nina Paredez, and Nikki Lindsey. It is a team effort and we are so proud of all the girls and their coach, Ronnie Schultze! We see a district win on the horizon!

Although the girls faced the wind - the old ladies played games! No golf. But maybe next week we will be “swinging!’
