‘Tis the season of TAKS testing! The month of April is definitely the month of testing. Please be aware of the following upcoming TAKS dates: April 6/7; April 27 through May 1 and May 19. Please make every effort to have your kiddos in school on these dates. Please remember that passing the TAKS at grades 3, 5, 8 and 11 determines promotion to the next grade level and/or graduation as well as state and federal accountability is determined from the scores and participation in all grades tested.

If you are looking for ways to help your child, please visit with the counselor or campus principal on the campus where your child attends school. Please know too, that in-school tutorials are occurring each day in preparation of these assessments.

Additionally, if you would like to assist your child at home please access the TAKS study guides provided by the Texas Education Agency. The TEA has developed TAKS study guides to help students strengthen the TEKS-based knowledge and skills that are taught in class and tested on TAKS. The guides are designed for students to use on their own or for students and families to work through together. Concepts are presented in a variety of ways that will help students review the information and skills they needed to be successful on TAKS. The TAKS guides are available in an interactive on-line version or may be printed from the website as well. Please find the TAKS guides at http://perspective.pearsonaccess.com/perspective/appmanager/tx/family/ or see the campus counselor where your child attends school. You may also want to take a practice TAKS test to learn more about what your child will be tested by accessing the test at the following web address at found at the Texas Education Agencies website : http://www.tea.state.tx.us/index3.aspx?id=3264&menu_id3=793 . Additionally, students have access to an online practice program called Study Island that can be accessed at home as well at: http://www.studyisland.com/ . Students have been assigned a login and password at school.
