The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met March 26, 2009 for play day with the chair for March, Anita Miles, calling for a game of play the ball from the red markers on par fives, the white markers on par threes, and the gold markers on par fours. She awarded Low Gross which went to Sandee Hartley and Low Net which was a tie between Anita Miles and Hattie Rogers. Jo Ann Snow, Dorothy Sterner, and Becky Hardin also played. Bobbie Churchill once again followed the ladies wishing she could play.

Bobbie is going to have some back surgery this week so it will be a while before she is back in full swing. Pat Ribb has also had some back medications that have helped her and maybe she will be back to play soon.

Four of our ladies, Anita Miles, Hattie Rogers, Sandee Hartley, and Jo Ann Snow are gearing up for the Senior Women’s Amateur Golf Tournament which will be at Sammons Park in Temple, Texas on April 14th, 15th, and 16th, 2009. We hope to have winners! The ladies always look forward to this event. It is held twice a year at some course in Texas.

The President, Anita Miles, called for a call meeting where they voted unanimously to donate $100 to the Cancer Relay for Life here in San Saba and to also send $100 to Betty Sue Low’s daughter, Melissa, who is running in the Cancer Relay for Life in memory of her mother.

The San Saba River Golf Course is very busy putting in a new driving range. It is going to be a much safer place and will be a real asset for our golf course.

It will be worth your time to come out to the San Saba River Golf Course and look at all the improvements the City has been working on. The ladies hope to be able to help pay for a decorative fountain for the water hazard on the famous hole coming to the club house. It is a beautiful hole and a challenge for the best of golfers! San Saba is blessed to have this wonderful golf course nestled in the pecan trees on the river. It doesn’t get any better than that! So I hope to see you out touring this majestic place and even better I wish you’d try “swinging!”
