Ode to Winona C. Gage
Thursday, April 2, 2009 • Posted April 2, 2009

Winona was my sister-in-law and my friend for sixty-three years. I married her eldest brother George in 1946. She and Lloyd married a year later.

We were fortunate to live in the same towns through most of the years. Our children were close in age to one another and very close emotionally as they grew up. There were many happy get-togethers.

As the years went by (too quickly) and Winona and I became widows, most of our visiting was by phone and most of the topics were about certain aches and pains of the day.

She was optimistic, intelligent, kind and sympathetic to the troubles of others. She loved God, family and people and hoped for peace for the world.

She was a hard worker, loving mother and a friend to many people. I know she has gone to her great reward and "for her", I'm happy. But I will miss her.
