People from around the Bend woke up Sunday morning to a light frost and some light ice on the bird baths. Some vegetables were nipped and some made it through without any problems, not too sure about the fruit.

Mebbie Eckhoff reported that they had ice on the windshields of their pickups and Leon thought that the ice wasn’t that bad.

Lola Morris had beans up and the frost nipped some of them, but still had some that was okay.

Mebbie also had a report about her grandson's gymnastic accomplishments. Ory won the state championship in level four and ninth place on the tumble horse this weekend at Spring, Texas. Ethan last weekend placed 15th out of 86 kids and eight on the parallel bars in Denton in level six state championship.

Next weekend they will be in Keller, Texas for the regional three state championships. The proud grandmother will surely keep us all informed as to the outcome.

The Friday night dance in Lometa was well attended. They came from San Saba, Burnet, Goldthwaite, Bend and Lometa. It was reported that more from San Saba attended than other towns. Just proves there are more light footed, toe tapping people in San Saba than other towns around.

Dennis and Glenda Scroggins celebrated their anniversary at a Bed and Breakfast in Brownwood Friday.

Jerome Meischen reported that he had seen his first scissor-tail Saturday and that is usually the first sign of Spring, but then early Sunday morning he sprayed his fruit trees with water to protect the fruit from freezing. The sun quickly melted the ice. So much for the scissor-tail and the mesquites leafing out. Old mother nature has her own agenda as we have so quickly noticed. Could be in for some more cold by Easter, as there usually is a freeze.

Elo Henniger was admitted to Rollins-Brook hospital Friday and was suffering from Pneumonia. By Sunday he was feeling much better and sitting in a chair talking to visitors.

Barbara Jones and Nana Marley attended the memorial service Saturday held for their cousin Barbara Conrad of Lone Cove. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Joshua Scroggins who will celebrate a birthday April 2nd, to R.J. Henniger whose birthday is April 4th, to Carrie Wayne Keeney who will celebrate a birthday April 7th, to Kyle Smith and Timber Rogers whose birthday is April 8th, to Madison Mayben and Cherie Henniger whose birthday is April 9th.

Congratulations go out to Jackie and Charlene Brister who will celebrate an anniversary April 6th, and to Bob and Tammy Fullerton who will celebrate their anniversary April 7th.
