A New Creation
Thursday, April 2, 2009 • Posted April 2, 2009

Have you noticed the dormant vegetation is coming back to life? The trees, flowers, etc. that are seasonal have begun to bloom. In the back of our property there is a red bud tree that always has beautiful blooms on it when the weather warms up. Soon the blooms will give way to leaves that will be full and green.

It is always interesting to see nature renew itself. Whether it be the bluebonnets, Indian paints, crape myrtles, roses or whatever, this is wonderful to behold.

In the word of God we read that there was a time when none of this was here. God created, spoke, everything into existence. (Genesis 1) When there was nothing, He created something. The physical world around us, which includes His beautiful landscape, helps us to realize His presence in our lives. (Psalm 19:1)

We, today, are God’s creation. It is He who created us and continues to sustain us in every way. James said that every good and perfect gift comes from above, from the Father of lights. (James 1:17) There are those who are skeptical that God is and that He created these things. There is not a good answer for our world if there is not an Intelligent Designer behind it.

And today, just as God brings the vegetation back to life, so He does with people. He offers them the opportunity to turn to Him in faith, to be obedient to His Word, and when one does, He has promised a home in heaven (John 14:6). Paul wrote, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) What an opportunity for each one of us!

Are you living your life today as a “new creation” or have you continued to let the old ways hold you back. Give God your best today.
