Elm Grove Echoes
Thursday, March 26, 2009 • Posted March 26, 2009

We have been enjoying some pretty weather after the good rains of last week. The trees are leafing out nicely but I don’t expect very many wildflowers this year. The snakes are crawling. One of our neighbors has already killed a little rattlesnake in his yard.

Marilyn and Michael Suber and I attended the wedding of Danielle Snoddy and Reed Williams in Brady last Saturday night.

It was a beautiful wedding and we wish the happy couple all the best. We missed the reception in order to get back to Elm Grove in time for the gospel singing. We had a full house with over fifty people raising the roof with those good old gospel songs.

Wayne Powell and Johnie Reeves led the singing and Kay McKee and Lanell Parson shared duties at the piano. Johnie and his son-in-law provided several specials accompanying themselves with guitars and a harmonica. Laurel and Maliah Edmondson performed several specials with Laurel at the piano and Maliah playing her violin. They are both very talented young ladies and we appreciate them coming to share their music with us. If you missed this singing, there will be another one in October.

It was especially good to see David Evans with Bonnie and Junior at the singing.

We were sorry to hear of the passing of Ginger Jackson. Ginger has been an inspiration to many of us because, even though she suffered greatly, she never gave up. Her services will be Saturday at the Davis-Morris Funeral Chapel in Brownwood with burial in the Richland Springs Cemetery. We send our sympathy to Pilt and the rest of the family.

There were seven members present at the Busy Bee quilting on March 10th. Working on a quilt for Irene Hammett were, Fay and Gloria Lusty, Irene Hammett, Carol Orr, Catalina Luna, Grace Hardman and Marilyn Miller. Irene will bring her quilt back to work on again in April.
