Students, faculty and staff arrived back at school on Monday, March 23 after a week of spring break. Most were glad to be back at school. Many were sore from overexertion during the holidays.

Students and faculty returned to a busy schedule of events. Junior high tracksters under the direction of Coach Nelson Smith and Coach Shawn Rogers competed at May on Monday, March 23.

One Act Play presented All My Sons at a dinner theatre Monday night for the community at the Richland Springs cafetorium. The theatre students under the direction of Patsy Hall also traveled to Santa Anna on Wednesday, March 25 to compete in zone competition.

The high school tennis team under the direction of Coach Sue Ransom traveled to Fredericksburg on Thursday for a tennis meet.

On Friday, March 27 the high school tracksters under the direction of Coach Jerry Burkhart will travel to May for a track meet.

The high school UIL Academic District meet will be held at Santa Anna on Saturday, March 28. Nelson Smith is the UIL academic director for the spring meet.

Kudos to volunteer Melanie Smith who also helps students prepare for academic success in UIL events.

In a small school many of the same students compete in multiple events and are shared among track, tennis, one act play and UIL academic coaches. I admire the students who share of their talents with the many events. Thanks to the parents who support their students who compete for the Richland Springs Coyotes in both sports and academics. School pride is evident in all they do. Go Coyotes-Win State!

The Coyotes tennis team entered the Iredell Invitational at Waco. All contestants won their first match. Senior Lindsey Roberds emerged as the first place girl’s singles champion. Coach Sue Ransom is serious when it comes to tennis, and the student success at Waco shows their intensity.

It’s great to see our community supporting students in their efforts to achieve. We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It takes everyone working together to achieve success.

Community involvement is the key to success!
