Lady Dillo Softball Report
Thursday, March 26, 2009 • Posted March 26, 2009

It was a busy spring break for the Lady Dillos. We played 3 games in 3 days.

On Monday, we traveled to Early to play the Lady Longhorns.

Katy Davis started the game and Tarah Crosby came in to relieve her. Both girls pitched well, and the defense was solid, but the Lady Dillos couldn’t get the bats going.

Tarah Crosby and Kristen Jordan had the only two hits. The Lady Dillos fell behind early and couldn’t recover, losing 10-0.

The JV was also in action against Early. Bianca Dawson got off to a rocky start pitching, but battled back and pitched 2 innings.

Dawson was relieved by Ashley Pulatie. Brittany Moreno, Paige Faught, and Ashley Pulatie had hits for the JV. The final score was 11-2 in favor of Early.

On Tuesday, the Lady Dillos played Brady at home.

Tarah Crosby pitched a complete game and pitched well. Crosby only gave up one earned run, but a few defensive miscues gave Brady the early lead.

Our bats were cold to start the game. We weren’t able to string any hits together until the 5th inning. Tarah Crosby went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI , Kristen Jordan went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s, and Whitney Key went 3 for 3. Ashley Pulatie, Bianca Dawson, and Katy Davis also collected hits. We started to rally, but unfortunately it was too little to late. We lost 7-3.

The JV was also in action against Brady. The JV played well, only committing two errors.

Ashley Pulatie started pitching and Kristen Jordan and Bianca Dawson also saw action. Paige Faught, Courtney Pryor, Brittany Moreno, Kristen Jordan and Ashley Pulatie all had hits. The game was tight throughout, but Brady got the victory 10-6.

On Wednesday, we traveled to Bangs to play the Lady Dragons.

Bianca Dawson started the game and pitched very well. She struck out 4 in 5 1/3 innings of work. Tarah Crosby relieved her in the 6th and gave up no earned runs.

Bangs jumped ahead in the first inning, 2-0, but we clamped down and got out of the inning. In the second, Kristen Jordan and Brittany Moreno worked walks, and Jordan scored on a Bekah Bush single. We couldn’t add anymore, but we closed the gap to 2-1. We gave up 1 run in the second, but tightened up on defense and had a scoreless 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings.

To start the 4th, Tarah Crosby and Bianca Dawson both got on base. Both girls stole a base, and were knocked in by a Brittany Moreno double. That tied the score 3-3.

In the 5th, Crosby singled to start the inning, stole second, and moved to third on a bunt by Bianca Dawson. Crosby scored when the second baseman bobbled the ball on a Brittany Moreno hit. We took the lead 4-3. We had a rough bottom of the 5th and left trailing 6-4. We were never able to retake the lead, losing 8-4. I was very proud of the way our girls battled and never gave up.

We will be in action again on March 27th at home versus Comanche. I hope to see you at the ballpark. GO LADY DILLOS!!!
