Ladies Golf Notes

The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met for their monthly business meeting March 5, 2009 with the following ladies present: Jo Ann Snow, Jo Anne Hardy, Bobbie Churchill, Nell McHorse, Becky Hardin, Pat Ribb, and Hattie Rogers.

In the absence of the President, Anita Miles, the Vice President, Nell McHorse, called the meeting to order and Hattie Rogers opened the meeting with prayer. The Secretary, Hattie Rogers, read the minutes and they were approved as read.

The Treasurer, Bobbie Churchill, gave the financial report. It was announced that Traveling 4-Ball would be March 15 in Fredricksburg, Texas. Four ladies played a round of golf with Jo Ann Snow winning the chip in pot.

March 12, 2009 the rains came and we all rejoiced and had a fun day of playing games and having lunch together!

March 19, 2009 the ladies played the old favorite, the pink ball. The ball rotates to each team member and that score counts for the team. The team who keeps their pink ball the whole round with the lowest score is declared the winner. The team of Sandee Hartley, Becky Hardin, and Dorothy Sterner defeated the team of Anita Miles, Jo Anne Hardy, and Jo Ann Snow due to the fact that Anita lost the ball on #9 in the water. She was unduly harassed but she got the last laugh as she scored the only birdie of the day by birdying #18, which is a real feat for a lady.

Bobbie Churchill was a spectator who played a few holes. Bobbie is recovering from surgery but is making great progress and will soon be ready for a full round. Pat Ribb joined the ladies for lunch and she is planning on some help for her back soon and perhaps she will be back on the links!

If you haven’t been to the River Golf Course lately you should take a little tour. It is more beautiful every day. The city is doing a magnificent job of trimming trees, planting, just overall improvements. They have now constructed a beautiful rock fence at the gate of the Course with a planter filled with the appropriate San Saba plants. We are so appreciative of all their efforts!

We also have some new residents at the River Golf Course, THE MILL POND DUCKS! They are precious and all over the place eating bugs and doing good things. They aren’t the prettiest ducks in the world but their our ducks! And they are a real pleasure to watch. Some courses have deer but we have ducks!

So come on down and see the ducks. We don’t even care if you feed them. But even better you should try “swinging!”
