On Saturday, the San Saba High School Power lifting team competed in the Regional Power Lifting meet in Waco. We are extremely proud of their accomplishments this week and their accomplishments throughout the year. If you see any of these lifters, please congratulate them on their awesome performance at the Regional meet.

The San Saba Boys team finished tied for 5th out of 31 teams in the entire region 2 and we finished above most 2A schools in the meet and in front of most of our district opponents. Two of the 5 lifters that competed received a medal. Due to the meet being a regional competition, much like a regional tournament in basketball or regional track meet, this meet was a highly competitive meet and our lifters should be congratulated on their performances. We qualified 2 lifters for the state power lifting meet to be held in Abilene, Texas on March the 28th. The 2 state qualifiers are Bobby Pairett in the 198lb. class and Tyler McIntosh in the 275lb. weight class. These two young men definitely deserve a great deal of credit for the way they battled to qualify for the state meet. All of the lifters should be complimented on their progress throughout the year and how much they have improved their totals over the course of this power lifting season.

In order for a lifter to qualify for state, the lifter must be in the top 2 in their weight class with the lifters 3-10 being alternates. It is a huge accomplishment for a lifter to make it to the regional meet; and to compete at this level of competition, but to make it to state really says a lot about these two young men. We are extremely proud of the other Dillo lifters that qualified for the regional meet and competed well. All of the lifters at the regional meet bettered their totals and each one of them bettered their regional standings. Each Dillo lifter that competed in the regional meet finished at least 8th in their weight class and should be commended on their efforts. The Dillo lifters are continually working harder and bettering their totals each and every week and we are extremely proud of their performances.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to each lifter on the San Saba Power Lifting team this year for their hard work and determination, and I would also like to express my thanks to the community and the school district for their support of these lifters throughout the year!

Dave Smith = 7th place in SHW with a total of 1205 lbs.

Alex Cervantes = 6th place in the 148 lb. class with a total of 1085 lbs.

Allan Hale = 8th place in the 132 lb. class with a total of 860 lbs.

Tyler McIntosh = 2nd place in the 275 lb. class with a total of 1355 lbs. (State Qualifier)

Bobby Pairett = 2nd place in the 198 lb. class with a total of 1265 lbs. (State Qualifier)
