Small fire at Eventide Nursing Home quickly handled
Thursday, February 14, 2008 • Posted February 14, 2008

On Wednesday, February 6th, a "911" call sent San Saba Police Department and San Saba EMS and Fire to Eventide Nursing Home. There, a small fire had started in the attic located in the northeast wing of the building. However, Cox Fire Service and Repair, on location for a service call, quickly extinguished the blaze before it got out of control.

Chief Riggs and Officer Brown arrived on scene and noted smoke billowing from the northeast side of the building. Eventide's staff calmly and swiftly transported patients to the south wing of the building, safely away from the smoke.

EMS stayed on station but was not needed. San Saba Fire brought in pressure fans and assisted with removing the smoke from the building.

Officer Brown commends the fast response from Cox Fire Service employees, as well as Eventide's professional staff. He recognizes their quick and brave actions prevented a small fire from becoming a very dangerous and deadly situation.
