CTC Continuing Education ends month with new classes

The Central Texas College (CTC) Continuing Education Department ends the month of March with new writing, cooking and line dancing classes. Registration is now underway for the following non-credit courses.

Line Dancing: Learn basic line dance moves and dance floor etiquette followed by intermediate and advanced steps. The class consists of demonstration with music and step-by-step instruction. The class meets each Monday/Wednesday, March 23 through April 1, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. the cost is $23.

Writing for Beginners: Explore and develop your creativity and original thinking through written word. Students learn and try their hand at different writing styles and techniques. Discover how fun writing can be. The class meets each Tuesday, March 24 through April 28, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. The cost is $38.

Quick Breads: Learn how to make an assortment of melt-in-your-mouth muffins and luscious coffee cakes to go with that steaming cup of afternoon tea or coffee. Bring an apron and food container. Recipes will be provided. The class meets Saturday, March 21 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The cost is $46.

Basic Photography: Learn how to use your film/digital 35mm SLR camera. Class topics include lighting, techniques for taking better pictures, overcoming common problems for 35mm and digital photography. The class will include several field trips. The class will meet each Monday, March 23 – April 27, from 6 – 9 p.m. The cost is $49.

Watercolor: Your painting background does not matter for this class. All you need is a willingness to be open and experiment. The class covers color theory, techniques and perspectives. Class time is every Monday, March 23 – April 27, from 6:30 – 9 p.m. The cost is $37.

Glass Mosaic: Spring Fling for Kids (age 8 and older) - Students will make a beautiful stain glass tray as they learn how to apply mosaic pieces and applying grout. The class meets Tuesday, March 17 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. The cost is $33.

The adult class meets Friday, March 20 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. The cost is $18.

Home Decorating Made Simple: This class teaches you how to arrange a room that is attractive and functional. Topics include color themes, fabric selection, window dressings and home accessories. The class meets each Tuesday, March 24 – 31, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. The cost is $19.

Yoga: Designed to connect the body and the mind, the class focuses on strength and balance movements to increase flexibility and reduced stress. The class meets each Tuesday/Thursday, March 24 through April 16, from 5:45 – 6:45 p.m. The cost is $26.

THEA and ACT/ASSET Preparation: Sharpen your skills and improve your test score on the new Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) or ACT/ASSET test. Reading, writing and math will be addressed along with test-taking strategies. The class meets each Tuesday/Thursday, March 26 – April 23, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. The cost is $46.

Western Horseback Riding: Explore the equine mind and mannerisms as you learn required nutrition, equipment, safety and general care needed to keep horses happy and healthy. Students will learn to ride the horse at a walk, trot and lope. The class meets every Wednesday, March 25 through April 29, from 4:30 – 6 p.m. The cost is $86.
