Where will it stop?
Thursday, March 12, 2009 • Posted March 12, 2009

It continues to fall. It has fallen more than half what it was several years ago. Not only that but it doesn’t seem that there is going to be a stop any time soon. It will continue to fall. As a result of this there are many anxious people. Not only are they anxious but they are not as well off as they expected to be right now in their life. What is it that continues to fall? The stock market. Many people have lost thousands of dollars. Many of these were people who expected to retire in a couple of years but now it seems they will not be able to—at least they will not be able to and have the kind of money they want for an easy lifestyle.

For those who do not have very much invested in the stock market this does not matter a great deal to them. To those who invested heavily, it is a loss they may never recover. But I do have some good news. The end is in sight.

When I say the end is in sight I am not talking about a tumbling market. I am talking about the coming of our Lord Jesus. I do not know the day nor the hour when He will come (Matthew 24:36), but I do know he is coming.

I also know that our God does not measure anything by what the stock market does. It won’t matter if it is down to 3,000 or up to 18,000 (Currently it is at 6876). Therefore, we do not need to worry about this either. The main thing on our minds is first that we are prepared to meet God when He comes again. If we have never obeyed the gospel and are not living a godly life, then we will be separated from God (2 Thess 1:7-9) Secondly, we must realize that God is in control and will provide for His people. Paul wrote to the Philippians, “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) Do you believe this? God will provide. We must have faith that will help us through these rough times. We must trust that God is still in control. Only then will we survive.
