Elm Grove Echoes

I wish we had some rain reports to share with everyone, but not yet. I have noticed several of the dry tanks in the area have been cleaned out and ready for that big rain when it comes.

There was a benefit roping for Glen Burkman last Saturday at the Elm Grove arena. The report is that they had about 30 teams participating and the proceeds amounted to about $4500.00. Glen was injured in a horse accident some time back. He and Annette have helped with the Elm Grove rodeo for many years. All of the help with the fund raiser was appreciated.

There was a predator hunt going on last weekend at Elm Grove, also. Seven teams showed up for that, with Acey Morvan and Ty Shackleford taking first place. I did not get all of the names but a team from San Saba won second and Steven Tharp’s team took third. Billy Mims and team won the jackpot in the wild hog hunt. It sounds like all of the guys had a good time and the area got rid of some predators.

This is the beginning of another new month and it is hard to believe that March has already arrived. The 42 tournament will be March 14th at Richland Springs. The Busy Bee quilters will meet on March 10th. The gospel singing will be March 21st at Elm Grove community center. Tell all of your friends and neighbors and come on out. There will be no business meeting that night.

Marilyn and Michael Suber and I went to Dublin last Saturday and helped Bethany Suber move into an apartment in Stephenville. It was a big job on a cold and windy day but we enjoyed spending time with Bethany and helping her and her dog, Amos, get settled.
