Spring has sprung and school events are plentiful! Next week we have some pretty important events happening at San Saba ISD! In last weeks column I spoke to you about Texas Public School Week and Open House. I want to remind you again that we are hosting our spring Open House for all campuses on Monday, March 9th. San Saba Elementary School will be open from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.; San Saba Middle School from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. and San Saba High School from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. A special opportunity will be available at this Open House - a station will be set up on each campus that will help parents learn more about our website and get setup with ParentConnect. ParentConnect is an online way to check students’ grades and attendance. So, if you are a parent or guardian of a San Saba ISD student and you have yet to get connected with Parent Connect, a school representative will be available on each campus to assist you. Just look for the smiling individual set up with a laptop computer. Also, if you are interested in eating with your student at one of the school cafeterias during Public School Week, please contact food service director, Diane Wood.

March 9th also brings to a close the opportunity to file for a place on the ballot for this year’s school trustee election. Forms must be completed and submitted to the SSISD election official, Jackie Dyer, by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2009. The trustee election will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 in a joint election with the City of San Saba.

As Spring Break approaches San Saba ISD would like to remind you too we will be observing spring break this year beginning March 16 through March 20. School will be back in session for all students and staff on Monday, March 23. At that time we will only have 47 days left in school, but some very important instruction yet to be provided. After spring break the year begins to steamroll to the end of school, so please help us get your kiddos to school and end up the 2008 – 2009 school year on a positive note.

Please remember that our website is the key to keeping up-to-date on school happenings. Please visit www.san-saba.net to view events and find information you need to know about SSISD.
