Armadillo Baseball Season gets underway

The San Saba Armadillo Baseball Season got underway this past week.On Monday Feb.23rd, the Armadillos traveled to Hico for our first games, the Varsity won 4 to 3 with everybody pitching and playing well. The JV beat Hico 5-0 in a game shortened by darkness. Cody Herd got the win for the JV while Sr. Blake Lewis got the win for the Varsity.

This past weekend the Varsity traveled to Blanco for the Blanco Tournament. We went 2 and 2 in the4 games beating Fredericksburg JV 4 to 3, loosing to Llano JV 9 to 3, losing to Ingram 16 to 3, and beating Blanco JV 12 to 1. Ryan Pannell picked both tournament wins. George Long and Martin Vega were both named all-tournament, based on their outstanding performances.

This week the Varsity played at Fredericksburg Heritage on Tues. while the JV played at Johnson City as well.This Thurs. through Saturday the Varsity Armadillos will compete in the Hamilton Tournament. We will have all the news for you in the next paper.

I would like to thank everybody for the support of the kids and coaches. Special recognition goes out to Coach Taylor,Coach Stowe and the wonderful season our girls basketball team had. They make us proud to be Armadillos.

There are many opportunities to support our student athletes; please take advantage of them. See you at the park or field or track. WE ARE SAN SABA, WE ARE TOGETHER.
