Can you believe this weather? We jump from freezing to 70’s. Everyone was talking about how bad the wind had been last week and comparing it to the sand storms that go on in West Texas, but thank goodness the wind had slowed down by the weekend. The wind kept the women’s hair flying and men pulling their hats down. The one advantage that the men have over women is that they wear pants and the wind never seems to bother them, but now days women wear jeans too.

The big worry now is getting some much needed moisture and that the fruit trees hold off blooming for a while. Some gardens are being started and are in need of rain. Lola Morris reported that she had to water a spot in her garden in order to plant some onions Monday.

R. J. And Patsy Henniger are planning a trip to California to visit their daughter Jill Harrington and her family in the near future.

Sorry to hear Jimmy Stinnett has been having problems with his leg and is going in to see what can be done to alleviate the problem. It could mean more surgery on the leg that he hurt some time ago when he fell from a bridge while working.

Sunday when Bill Price paid a visit to Elo Henniger at the Lampasas Nursing home, he found Elo up in a wheelchair and ready to play dominoes. Bill couldn’t stay to play, but promised to be prepared to play next Sunday .

Jim and Edna Machen held a big Super Bowl football gathering at their home Sunday night. Guests watched the game, some played games and everyone feasted on shrimp gumbo that Jim cooks for every Super Bowl event.

Bowman Seals of Round Mountain and his son Buck of Albuquerque, N. M. Paid a visit to the home of Bill and Jo Price Sunday afternoon. Lots of visiting and catching up on everything that had transpired since they had last seen each other. Buck spent some time down on the river taking pictures and getting some close ups of the new baby goats that were born this past week and the guard donkeys.

Happy birthday goes out to Margie McDowell who will celebrate a birthday February 7, to Peggy Whittenburg and Clovis Gibson who will celebrate a birthday February 10 and to Toni Mayben who will be celebrating a birthday February 13.

The Bend Community will be having a monthly meeting Saturday, February 16, everyone is welcome to attend so be sure and mark your calendar. Will have information on what the meal will be next week. What ever it is will be good you can just bet on that. No one ever goes away hungry. Bring your favorite game and be prepared to have a good time.
