The Little Beggar Boys
Thursday, February 7, 2008 • Posted February 7, 2008

I have run into them in most of the foreign countries that I have been in and they follow you down the street asking for money. They will hold out their hand and say, “Give me money!” I have encountered some that were very polite and humble but others that were very rude, demanding and insulting. I stop and take time to tell them about Jesus and how much He loves them and I also go on to tell them that it pleases Him when we try to work for money and not beg. I will give them some little task, pay them well, and thank them.

The Bible says that man was created to work, for example, in the garden of Eden, Adam was to cultivate the ground, (Genesis 2:15). Making a living may not always be easy, (Genesis 3:19). The Bible goes on to say we are to work and so is our sons and daughters, (Exodus 20:9&10). We will be rewarded according to how we have worked, (Psalm 62:12). Sluggards, (people who refuse to work) are to go without food, (2 Thessalonians 3:10). Paul chastised some Christians for not working and just gossiping, (2 Thessalonians 3:11). He also encouraged Christians to lead quiet lives and work so they would not have to go around bumming off of others, (2 Thessalonians 3:12). See you in Church next Sunday.
