Coyotes perform their Veribest
Thursday, October 18, 2007 • Posted October 18, 2007

The No. 1 Richland Springs Coyotes (6-0) on the season and (1-0) in district beat up on the Veribest Falcons (4-2) by a score of 84-0 this past Friday night. The Coyotes was unstoppable once again scoring on every possession and their longest drive of the night only took three plays. The Coyotes scored on almost every way possible. Mark Williams opened the show by returning the opening kick-off 55 yards for the first Coyote TD. Veribest was just completely ate up all night long by the Coyote defense. The Falcons never reached mid field and never recorded a single first down! Veribest was held to minus -22 yards of total offense!! Patrick Couch scored for the Coyote defense by recovering a Falcon fumble in the end zone. Haustin Burkhart returned a Falcon punt 35 yards for a Coyote TD. The rushing game was anchored by Shelby Smith. Shelby scored on runs from 1 and 20 yards out. Tyler Ethridge increased his career touchdown passes total to 204 with six scoring tosses. He completed 11-of-12 attempts for 218 yards. Tyler threw TD passes to five different receivers. Mark Williams caught TD passes from 20 and 34 yards away. Shelby Smith had one from 12 yards, Patrick Couch had one from 20 yards, Nigel Bates had a TD catch from 34 yards, and Haustin Burkhart added one from 15 yards. Richie Daniels was 9 of 11 on PAT kicks. Richie continues to kick the ball well, as he has done all season long. The Coyote blocking was once again outstanding. The Coyotes have now improved their current winning streak to 20th straight victories overall and their 57th consecutive win in the regular season. The Coyotes will now prepare for the Brookesmith Mustangs (2-4) who are coming off of a bye week. The Mustangs lost two of their best players this past summer. The Allgood brothers transferred to their district foe, the Rochelle Hornets. The Mustangs are struggling once again this year by only scoring 33 ppg on offense, while allowing 56 ppg on defense. The Coyotes only improved their numbers from last week. Going into this weeks game, the Coyote offense is scoring an average of 74 ppg and the defense is just giving up 10 ppg! Look for many more fireworks this week, these Coyotes are a “HIGH OCTAIN” team on both sides of the ball! I would like to compliment all of our coaches for a great job they have done this season! Coach Burkhart, Coach Ethridge, Coach Dodson, and Coach Rogers are a great coaching staff and deserve a ton of credit! Thank you coaches, job well done! My Pick: COYOTES - (a whole heck of a lot), Brookesmith - ( very little, if any)! GO COYOTES GO!
