Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
We are a nation that has forgotten our God and our Christian heritage. God was expelled from our public school system in 1961 simply because atheist Madelyn Murray O'Hare was offended and the Supreme Court was gutless. Our God is now only allowed in the Halls of ("Justice"?), through prayers prayed to any deity, lest someone be offended by the name of Jesus. Most of our young people in the public school system do not know that this nation was founded as "One Nation Under God", and that our criminal and civil laws were based upon the Bible and Ten Commandments. Both have now been outlawed on school property. Some of the scoffers and unbelievers try to persuade us that this nation was not founded as a Christian nation, and many Christians don't know enough, nor care enough to argue the point. I'm afraid that we have a nationwide epidemic of Christian history ignorance. We need an awakening and a surge of solid teaching of our Christian heritage. Eighteenth century preacher, George Whitefield said, "The Christian world is in deep sleep! Nothing but a loud voice can awaken them out of it." When speaking of American Evangelist Sam Jones, one writer added, "History records not the name of a single reformer that did not wear a hairy mantle and deal blows with a bludgeon." I'm reminded of one man who said, "Brother Jones, you're rubbing the fur the wrong way," and Sam Jones said, "turn the cat around." He fit the example of Isa. 58:1 "Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins." In a Supreme Court ruling in 1892 the court said; "Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this service and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian. This is a religious people. This is historically true. From the discovery of this continent to the present hour, there is a single voice making this affirmation. We find everywhere a clear recognition of the same truth. These and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation. There is nothing about separation of Church and state in the Constitution nor any of it's amendments. As a matter of fact, our liberal Congress today would have censored George Washington in his first inaugural prayer, if, there were any such law. Here's his prayer "Almighty God, we make our earnest prayer that thou wilt keep the United States in thy holy protection; that thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government, to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large. And finally that thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Devine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN." He prayed a Christian prayer to the God of Christianity for a Christian nation.
