The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met February 12, 2008 for play day. The President, Anita Miles, called for a call meeting.

The following members were present: Hattie Rogers, Bobbie Churchill, Jo Anne Hardy, Jo Ann Snow, Dorothy Sterner, Nell McHorse, and Anita Miles. The ladies voted unanimously to change the charge for Traveling 4-Ball from $30 to the original fee of $25.00, as this is what the majority of clubs opted for.

The President announced that the San Saba River Golf Course is now under the management of the City of San Saba. The San Saba Club has survived many more years than our neighbors, but because of the declining membership and economics, the City has now taken over the golf course and it is a good thing.

The City will operate and support and maintain the course and it will be beneficial for all. There has been an advisory board appointed from the golf membership that will work with the City. The City Council has approved the appointment of Rick Baskin, Buddy Adams, Larry Hardin, Jerry Minter, and Anita Miles for this advisory board.

The ladies adjourned and continued with play day with the game “Best At Something”. It was individual play with one point for driving in the fairway, one point for being on the green in regulation, and one point for a one putt; minus one point for a lost ball, minus one point for being in the sand trap, and minus one point for a three putt.

Hattie Rogers was the star of the day! She tied with Anita Miles for First Low Gross and tied with Jo Ann Snow for First Low Net, scored the only birdie of the day, and won the game with 23 points! A great round for Hattie! Second place went to Jo Anne Hardy and third to Anita Miles. Becky Hardin arrived to play a few holes and Pat Ribb came out for a short visit. It was a beautiful day to be “swinging!”
