Girls’ basketball coach Tony Dodson and the Lady Coyotes are off to a 3-2 district start. Boys’ basketball coach Harley Ethridge and the varsity boys are off to an 8-0 start and are 4-0 in district. Varsity action continues this Tuesday against Lohn at Richland Springs and Friday against Lometa at Lometa. Games start at 6:30 p.m. The junior high played Eden at Eden on Monday. Come out and support our young athletes in UIL competition.

Richland Springs sponsored a blood drive on campus on January 22, 2008. Thanks to everyone who donated the ‘gift of life’.

TAKS reading and writing tests begin March 3, 2008. Parents are urged to contact their child’s teacher(s) to see how they can help their student be successful on this year’s TAKS tests.

Gerald McKee and ag students were busy last week preparing animals for the San Saba County Stock Show which was held this past weekend. Congratulations to all who participated in the 2008 San Saba County Stock Show. Congratulations to Miranda Soto for her Champion commercial heifer. Congratulations to Franky Soto for his Reserve Champion commercial heifer. Franky Soto also showed the Reserve Grand Champion barrow and the Reserve Champion crossbred barrow. Adrian Avila showed the Reserve Champion Yorkshire barrow. Brailei Lusty, Krystal Smith, and Haustin Burkhart had class-winning animals. 21 Richland Springs students received approximately $24,225 at the Premium Sale Saturday plus add-ons. A special thanks to Jerry McGinty who volunteered many hours assisting ag students last week.

We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It looks to be a great year at Richland Springs.
