Hearts, Cards, Candy or a Special Gift
Thursday, February 12, 2009 • Posted February 12, 2009

It is on this Saturday, February 14, Valentines Day that we remember or think of the people that are special to us. It may be for a certain special someone or a wife or husband. It could be for a child, grandchild, family member, relative, friend or it might be for all of the above.

Many years ago it started with little love notes sent in the shape of a heart and secretly passed on to that special person. Later on doves and little cupids were associated with Valentines Day. It is estimated that over one billion cards will be sent this year worldwide. I have already purchased cards for the people that are special in my life and plan to discreetly leave them for my loved ones.

It should not only be on this day of the year, but we need to show love and appreciation for them all the time.

I am also reminded of someone else that not only said He loved us but He also demonstrated His love for us, (John 3:16). It was many years ago at a place called Golgotha where the Son of God, Jesus Christ was nailed to a cross and after much suffering and agony, died, ( John 15:9, Romans 5:8). Our special love note was nailed on a cross. Do not forget those cards and candy and hugs for our loved ones. See you in Church next Sunday.
