Today was the traditional Ground Hog Day and, since it was clear just about everywhere, I assume he “saw his shadow”. According to the old saying, we will have six more weeks of winter weather. It’s been over two months with no rain. We had just a trace of moisture in last weeks’ icy spell.

This begins another new month. The 42 tournament will be at Winchell on the 14th. The Busy Bee quilters will meet on the 10th and the community meeting will be February 21st. Make your plans to attend.

The Super Bowl has come and gone. It got pretty exciting right at the end but the Steelers came out the winners. I was sort of pulling for the Cardinals just because they had never played in the Super Bowl before but I really didn’t care one way or the other. If the Cowboys are not in it, I am really not very interested.

Marilyn and I and two little granddaughters took in the varsity basketball games a couple of weeks ago. The Rochelle girls won, but our boys beat Rochelle. On our way into the gym we stopped to admire the monument to the Coyotes which used to be the old water fountain. The art class has done a great job creating the beautiful mosaic. If you have not seen it, you should make it a point to go have a look. I am glad the old water fountain was put to good use instead of being torn down.

We send our sympathy to the families of Frances Vogel and Leticia Reyes. Both of these ladies were laid to rest here in Richland Springs on Monday.
