Dyess Doppler Radar to be down, modernized
Thursday, March 14, 2013 • Posted March 13, 2013

The Dyess Doppler Radar, KDYS, will undergo a modernization to use new technology known as Dual Polarization. Installation will take up to two weeks and begins on Monday, March 18th.

This upgrade will cause the KDYS Radar to be down and unavailable for much of this two week duration. During this down time, the National Weather Service, San Angelo, will use surrounding NWS Doppler Radars for coverage, including those in San Angelo, Texas; Frederick, Oklahoma; Midland, Texas; Lubbock, Texas and Ft. Worth, Texas.
